The lake is best known for boating and summer recreation. Residents and visitors enjoy power boating, jet skiing, wake surfing, tubing, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and pontoon cruising throughout the warmer months. Multiple marinas, public boat launches, waterfront restaurants, and rental companies operate around the lake, making it one of the most active boating destinations in the Pocono region. Fishing is also extremely popular, with anglers targeting striped bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, trout, and panfish year-round. During winter, the area transitions into ice fishing, snowmobiling, and nearby skiing activities.

Wallenpaupack Area High School is the public high school serving the Lake Wallenpaupack region and is part of the Wallenpaupack Area School District in Hawley, Pennsylvania. Located along Route 6, the school serves students throughout Wayne and Pike Counties and is widely recognized as one of the major rural high schools in the northern Pocono Mountains region. The district covers approximately 325 square miles and serves around 3,000 students across all grade levels.

Wallenpaupack Area Middle School is the public middle school serving grades 6–8 within the Wallenpaupack Area School District in Hawley, Pennsylvania. Located at 139 Atlantic Avenue near Lake Wallenpaupack, the school serves students from communities throughout Wayne and Pike Counties and is part of one of the largest geographic school districts in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
